What is MAI-Image-2.7?
MAI-Image-2.7 is Microsoft AI’s latest image model, and it launches as an editing model in preview. Microsoft describes it as giving stronger control over the edits that are hardest to get right: restyling or relighting an entire scene, changing text and symbols while keeping them integrated into the image, restoring and enhancing existing assets, and making edits that depend on how objects, lighting and environments work together.
Microsoft says it is starting with editing and that text-to-image generation is coming soon. No release date has been given for text-to-image, and the preview label means behaviour and availability can still change.

How MAI-Image-2.7 ranked at launch.
On the Artificial Analysis AA-Image-Editing v2.1 leaderboard, read on October 28, 2026, MAI-Image-2.7-Preview is listed at #2 with an Elo score of 1193 (±15; 95% interval 1178 to 1208; 4,891 samples). The leader is GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst (max) at 1199, and GPT Image 2.5 Flare (max) follows at 1182. Because these intervals overlap, the leaderboard gives MAI-Image-2.7-Preview a rank range of 1–3.
On the same leaderboard, MAI-Image-2.6 is listed at 1151 (±12) and MAI-Image-2.6-Flash at 1144 (±13). Elo scores move as more votes are collected, so treat these numbers as a dated snapshot rather than a permanent result.
Microsoft also reports that MAI-Image-2.7 launched at #3 on Arena Edit, making Microsoft AI the #2 lab there, and that it improves on 2.6 across all 10 use cases and all 7 editing actions evaluated by Artificial Analysis. According to Microsoft, its strongest lead is in scene and style, where it scores 24 Elo ahead of the next-best model. These are Microsoft’s published claims; we have not run our own benchmark.

Where you can try MAI-Image-2.7 today.
Microsoft lists three places to try MAI-Image-2.7’s editing: Arena, Artificial Analysis and MAI Playground. All three are run by other organisations, and none of them is this website.
If you use MAI Playground, check which model is selected before you judge a result. Comparing two different models by accident is an easy mistake when a new version has just been announced.

Is there a MAI-Image-2.7 API?
Not yet. Artificial Analysis lists MAI-Image-2.7-Preview with “No API available”, and Microsoft has not published API pricing or limits for it. The newest MAI image model in the Microsoft Foundry catalog is still MAI-Image-2.6.
This site only connects verified API routes, so mai-image.pro does not offer MAI-Image-2.7. If an API is released, we will review its exact model identity, limits and cost before deciding whether to add it, and this page will be updated. Until then, nothing on this site sends your images to MAI-Image-2.7.
